Squad Rules and Player Categories

Each CPL team must have a 17-player squad with a set number of players:

  • 9 West Indies players
  • 5 overseas players
  • 3 Breakout Players, who are young Caribbean talents

Only four overseas players can play in one match. Also, every team must include at least one Breakout Player in its playing XI for every game. Teams also had a limited number of Right to Match (RMO) options to bring back players from the previous season. The new Jamaica Kingsmen received special priority when choosing local Jamaican players during the draft.

These rules help keep the league fair and balanced. They also support the development of young Caribbean cricketers by giving them chances to play alongside experienced international stars. With 39 matches in the season, teams must plan their squads carefully and use their players wisely.
